Despite his proclamation that he’d willingly sit out all of 2020 rather than accept a lesser purse, Terence Crawford could return to the ring by the time winter rolls around. Bob Arum tells ESPN that he’s spoken to “Bud” and trainer Brian Mcintyre, telling them that Top Rank is “looking at opponents” for November 14th or 21st.
Arum also shares Crawford’s (36-0, 27 KO) pessimism on the possibility of a big-name matchup with Manny Pacquiao.
“Obviously, if it’s Pacquiao and we can do the fight, which is a big ask because where am I going to put it? We can’t do it in the United States because there’s no crowds. So again, [some reports] that it’s Pacquiao and Crawford — it’s misleading.”
There is at least one other option, though: Kell Brook recently claimed that he could make welterweight for a title fight with Crawford and Arum confirmed that he’d been “contacted by representatives” for “Special K.”
