The elusive welterweight title between Kamaru Usman and Gilbert Burns has been postponed once again.
The championship battle was set to take place at UFC 256 on December 12 with the match being the main event of the night.
Initially, Usman and Burns had to face each other at the first edition of “Fight Island” earlier this year, but the Brazilain tested positive for COVID-19 and he was replaced by Jorge Masvidal.
According to ESPN, the reason behind the second postponement is the fact that the champion needs more time to get prepared for the fight. There is still no replacement for the main event bout, as sources are reporting that the UFC will try to put Stipe Miocic against Francis Ngannou, but it’s not likely to materialize so soon.
Two-division champion Amanda Nunes is scheduled to defend her featherweight crown on that same card on December 12, against Megan Anderson.
