The Japan Sumo Association said yesterday that it will allow up to 5000 fans at the upcoming November Grand Sumo Tournament that will be held at Tokyo’s Ryogoku Kokugikan.
The two most recent Bashos that took palce at the Tokyo’s Ryogoku Kokugikan were capped at 2500 due to the coronavirus nademic restrictions. The elite competition is scheduled to begin on November 8.
Up to two people will be allowed to occupy a four-person box seat, where only one could sit previously.
Ryogoku Kokugikan has a capacity of about 11,000.
Usually, the November tournament is taking place in Fukuoka, but this year the vent got moved to the capital city to limit the need for wrestlers and staff to travel during the pandemic.
