The 2020 edition of the Polish Karate Open was held last week in Bielsko-Biala (Poland) with over 150 competitors and representatives from six countries participating in the prestigious event.
As the Karate world is striving to return to normal, one of the most respected Karate events in Europe was held this past weekend.
No less than 150 karatekas from six countries traveled to Bielsko-Biala in Poland to compete in the 2020 Polish Open. Representatives from Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Austria, Turkey, and Ireland gathered in Pod Debowcem sports hall to fight for the medals and to showcase one more effort of national federations to resume Karate activities.
The event was held following the WKF Guidelines and the health recommendations of the local authorities. The modalities of Kata and Kumite were celebrated separately to guarantee the best conditions of safety and disinfection of the competition area. Moreover, the Kumite event was reorganized thus joining all the categories into two weight divisions per age group.
Additionally, temperature checks were reinforced while the use of face masks inside the venue was mandatory, and sanitation procedures were applied throughout the event.
