After months and months of speculations and rumors, Matchroom Boxing’s Eddie Hearn announced yesterday that the contract has been signed by both parties.
According to the promoter of Joshua, there will be two fights with the first taking place in the summer while the second being staged in November or December. The location and the exact date are yet to be confirmed.
The undisputed heavyweight clash will be Fury’s first fight since he claimed the WBC belt last February when he demolished Deontay Wilder.
Meanwhile, Joshua’s last battle was in December when he KO’d Bulgaria’s Kubrat Pulev.
“This is the biggest fight in boxing and one of the biggest sporting events in the world,” Eddie Hearn told ESPN. “It will be a major, major win for a country that wants to showcase itself.”
“We’d like to get a site deal confirmed in the next month,” Hearn added. “The hard part is always getting everybody to put pen to paper. But this was a major effort from all parties to get this over the line. You had rival promoters, rival networks and rival fighters.”
