Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. to fight Anderson Silva in June

Former WBC middleweight champion Julio Cesar Chavez Jr. has reached a deal to fight the former UFC middleweight king Anderson Silva.

The two will face each other inside the ropes and according to TMZ the bout will be taking place on June 19 in Guadalajara, Mexico, as part of the card that features an exhibition main event between the great Julio Cesar Chavez Sr. and Hector Camacho Jr., the son of the legend Hector “Macho” Camacho.

The event titled “Tribute to the Kings” will be available live on PPV.

The 45-year-old Silva was released from UFC last year. “The Spider” lost 7 of his last 9 bouts inside the cage. This will be Silva’s third pro boxing fight, with the Brazilian having 1-1 record.

“When I look back at my journey, I see that nothing has been in vain,” Silva says … “I am extremely happy for the opportunity to test my boxing skills with Julio Cesar Chavez Jr.

“I train continuously, always striving for resilience and to overcome obstacles. Fighting is my everlasting breath.”

Chavez Jr., 35, won his previous fight. Before that, he was on a two-fight losing streak. According to him, the fight will take place in the light heavyweight division.
