Jermall Charlo joins forces with Mark Breland

Considering what an absolute cluster the Tyson Fury-Deontay Wilder saga turned out to be, it’s nice to see one of the good guys getting a happy ending. WBC middleweight champion Jermall Charlo revealed via Instagram that he’s now working with former Wilder trainer Mark Breland alongside Ronnie Shields.

Breland, a former amateur legend and Olympic gold medalist, became Wilder’s scapegoat after he made the correct decision to throw in the towel and save “The Bronze Bomber” from a protracted beating. After Wilder officially gave him the boot, Breland revealed the extent to which their relationship had deteriorated even before that infamous breaking point; hopefully, he’ll find Charlo (31-0, 22 KO) a more agreeable pupil.

The 30-year-old Texas native is presently preparing for a June 19th defense against Mexican puncher Juan Macias Montiel (22-4-2, 22 KO), who apparently earned a title shot by drawing with Hugo Centeno and obliterating what’s left of James Kirkland.
