We’re now officially into the month of May and there’s still yet to be a formal announcement of an undisputed heavyweight title unification between Tyson Fury and Anthony Joshua. And while there’s still some hope that a deal will cross the finish line with an announcement coming this week, Fury’s cornerman Andy Lee says the fighter is getting fed up.
“He is frustrated,” Lee told Sky Sports about Fury. “The end-date was February, then it was March, now we’re still going on. He’s very frustrated that the biggest, most powerful people in boxing (promoters Bob Arum, Eddie Hearn and all the networks) but they can’t seem to get the deal done for whatever reason.”
But even in the face of this huge fight collapsing before our eyes, Lee remains confident that the fight will happen — he just doesn’t think the dragging negotiations are helpful to Fury who he says likes to stay active. Fury has currently been out of action since stopping Deontay Wilder in early 2020.
Matchroom promoter Eddie Hearn also has been very positive when discussing the state of talks between Fury and Joshua, assuring the fans that it’s on its way. We’ll see…
