On if he’s expecting to get his respect if he beats Barrios
“I should but it really doesn’t matter. I’m just here to keep doing my thing and what satisfies me. But he’s a young champion. He’s 26, he’s 140, I’m jumping up two weight classes so if they don’t give me my respect after this I don’t know what I gotta do.”
On what made him want to make this move up the scale
“A lot of people saying that Leo was too small so we just wanted to — I say I’m great so it’s time for me to prove it. So that’s why we going up two weight classes to put on a great performance.”
On if he intends to remain at 140 after this fight
“It just depends on the opportunities and whatever opportunity I have at 140 or 135 I’ll definitely take.”
On if he intends to employ the same style he used against Santa Cruz against Barrios
“It just depends on what Mario Barrios brings that night. So if he come in open for an uppercut, I’ma definitely throw it. It’s just about me taking the chances.”
On how he thinks his power will translate to 140
“I don’t know, I just gotta wait and see…I know I spar people in the gym that’s 140 but it’s actually different when you’re actually fighting. I’m definitely not looking to get him out of there ‘cause he’s a bigger fighter but if I catch him and hurt him then we all know that (I’m going for the finish).
