One year later the KWU International Summer Camp took off again in Kamchiya! Over 850 karatekas from around the world gathered and gave a start to the camp with an early morning session.
Due to the large number of participants, the fighters were divided in several groups, so the coaches could work better and pay attention to each and every one. The competitors were led by the Czech fighting star Jan Sokoup – European Kyokushin champion, silver medalist from World Championships and winner in the “All Japan” championship. Along with him was the K-1 GP winner and KWU General Secretary Shihan Aleksandr Pichkunov.
The competitors’ group chose to train indoors.
Many juveniles and kids took part in the first session of the day. The little fighters were divided in two groups and did exercise and games appropriate for their age.
Among the instructors that led the session for the veterans and hobbyists were notable names as the first gold medalist from Kyokyshin European championships Shihan Asen Asenov and Shihan Ramil Gabassov – president of the Russian “All-Style” karate federation and board member of KWU. The youngest instructor was the rising Bulgarian kyokushin star – Georgi Doychev.
Each of the instructors took the initiative to develop certain areas of kyokushin in the fighters` games- one of the main goals of the camp is to increase the level of mastery among the students and coaches.
KWU International Summer Camp is organized by the Bulgarian Karate Kyokushin Federation (BKKF) and Kyokushin World Union (KWU) and is considered to be one of the biggest events in the world of martial arts.
