One of Britain’s top heavyweights Dillian Whyte is once again pretty upset with the current situation at the top of the heavyweight division.
“The Body Snatcher” was ruled out of the mandatory picture by the WBC President himself, even though Whyte defeated Alexander Povetkin in their rematch in May.
Whyte, who has been the mandatory challenger to former WBC champ Deontay Wilder for good two years, wants his shot at the belt, but that could happen as early as next year.
The current titleholder Tyson Fury was supposed to fight a Wilder for the third time this July, but the championship bout got postponed to October due to Tyson Fury’s camp testing positive for COVID-19.
With that being said, Fury will return to action at the beginning of October which means the green and gold belt will be up for grab for the first time since February 2020. And according to Whyte, Fury shouldn’t be the champion anymore.
“The WBC should make Fury champion in recess,” Whyte said to Sky Sports about Fury being ill with COVID-19 and unable to defend his WBC title on the previously scheduled July 24th date.
“I’ll fight Wilder as a world champion, and the winner of that fights Tyson Fury, and the winner of that fights Anthony Joshua for the undisputed.
“WBC should one hundred percent do the right thing.
“Tyson Fury has held all the titles but has never made a single defense of any of them. It’s a year and a half since he won the WBC belt, and still no fight insight,” said Dillian.
