Heavyweight boxing will be at the top of all topics and barbershop conversations in the next one month or so.
The reason for this is the return of the two heavyweight champs – Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury. The two Brits are set to defend their titles against Oleksandr Usyk on September 25 in London and Deontay Wilder on October 9 in Las Vegas.
Joshua and Fury had to fight each other for the undisputed heavyweight title, but the negotiations fell off when “The Bronze Bomber” secured a trilogy fight with “The Gypsy King” for his WBC belt.
Soon after that “AJ” reached out to his number two guy – Ukraine’s Oleksandr Usyk who’s the WBO mandatory challenger.
If, both Joshua and Fury manage to get past their opponents, a unification fight is 100% next. But according to heavyweight contender Michael Hunter Usyk might be too much of a problem for Joshua.
“Usik’s technical skills are on another level and will make a big difference. He will beat Joshua because he is simply a better boxer. The Englishman is just learning some things at this top level, he’s making strides, but Usik will beat him,” Hunter claims.
As for Fury – Wilder 3:
“I think Fury edges it out once again. Similar to their first fight without Fury getting dropped,” the American predicted.
“Wilder has to learn ring generalship and where to place himself in the ring. It would do wonders for him.”
