Manny Pacquiao’s co-trainer and childhood friend Buboy Fernandez believes “Pac-Man” should fight one more time and then bow out of the “sweet science”.
The 42-year-old Filipino returned to the ring in August, but got beat by younger and better Yordenis Ugas in a welterweight fight. Pacquaio looked sluggish and slow and many fans and pundits has been advicing him since then to “hang up the gloves” for good.
Fernandez though, is not one of thee, as he said he’d like him to go out with a win on his terms.
“It’s not nice seeing him retire from the sport of boxing coming off a loss,” Fernandez told Daily Tribune.
“We’ve learned our lessons. We know what went wrong and we know what to do in the event he decides to fight again,” Fernandez said.
“It’s up to him. It’s his call, his decision to make [if he wants to fight again]. He should retire on a winning note and cap his career with a big bang. The important thing is for him to win that last fight because it’s just not right that you leave the sport coming from a loss. That’s going to hurt a lot.”
