After being knocked out by Superbon in their ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Title match at ONE: FIRST STRIKE in Singapore this past Friday, 15 October, Petrosyan was rushed to a local hospital for treatment.
Then, on Saturday, the Armenian-Italian legend underwent surgery to repair his broken jaw, and the procedure was a success.
“Yesterday evening, my jaw was fixed with two plates,” Petrosyan wrote in an Instagram post on Sunday. “The surgery went well. I feel better already. Thanks to all for the support. I will keep you updated.”
Petrosyan has long been considered the kickboxing GOAT.
Before his battle with Superbon on Friday, the Armenian-Italian striker owned a 104-2-2 (2 NC) record, claimed the 2019 ONE Featherweight Kickboxing World Grand Prix Championship, and hadn’t lost a fight in eight years.
That all changed when the Thai superstar knocked “The Doctor” out with a head kick in the second round to hand him the third blemish of his 19-year-long professional career.
