Brasil’s Aex Pereira is probably in the top 3 pound-for-pound best kickboxers in the world. The former two-divison GLORY champion is just two days away from making his MMA debut with UFC.
“Poatan” will be facing Andreas Michailidis this Saturday night on the undercard of UFC 268.
Fight fans know Pereira not only for his GLORY days. The Brazilian is the only fighter to KO the current middleweight champ Israel Adesanya. Both guys met several years ago in a kickboxing contest and “Izzi” got KO’d by a vicious high kick.
Fast forward to 2021 and they are once again fighting under the same banner. But Pereira isn’t focused on Adesanya, according to himself.
“I didn’t come here after Adesanya, I came here to be a champion. Who knows, maybe by the time I get there he’s no longer the champion anymore,” Pereira said. “So I’m just taking it step by step. I just got to the organization and I’m just aiming to be a champion here. If I get there and it’s him, fine. If it’s not him, I’ll work with what I have.”
