After it was cleared that Donald Cerrone (35-11) will not be facing Conor McGregor (21-4) at UFC 239 in Las Vegas this summer, now a new rival has emerged to face the “Cowboy”.
News just broke from ESPN that the main event of UFC Ottawa on 4th of May will be Cerrone vs. Al Iaquinta (17-4-1). Sources are saying that both fighters had “verbally agreed on” the potential fight.

The 35-year-old Cerrone was long time campaigning for a fight with “The Notorious” and for a brief moment it looked like the fight was on, but in the past weeks, Dana White and “Cowboy” himself said that the fan favorite clash is off.
Both Iaquinta and Cerrone are coming off from massive wins in their last fights. At UFC on FOX 31, Al edged Kevin Lee via UD in the main event of the night, while Donald’s last bout was a TKO win over Alexander Hernandez at UFC Fight Night 143.
Other fights announced for UFC Ottawa are Derek Brunson vs. Elias Theodorou (middleweight) and Arjan Bhullar vs. Juan Adams (heavyweight).
