The International Judo Federation (IJF) decision regarding the suspension of the Islamic Republic of Iran Judo Federation has been confirmed by the Court of Arbitration in Sport (CAS).
The decision was challenged by the Iran Judo Federation but following the CAS hearing held in November 2021, the court ruled in favour of the IJF, re-iterating the serious breaches that were found and established in CAS’ first verdict, which served as the basis for the suspension of the Islamic Republic of Iran Judo Federation from all activities for a period of 4 years, namely a full Olympic cycle.
The International Judo Federation salutes the CAS ruling and considers the decision a fair and important step in combatting discrimination in sport. The IJF will continue to fight for all members of the judo family facing any kind of discrimination.
