Artur Beterbiev (21:0) officially is the new undisputed light heavyweight champion of the world after a majority decision against Dmitriy Bivol (23:1) in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
The 39 years old Russian with Canadian citizenship needed to get his first career decision victory in order to defeat one of the best in the division history and so he did despite some controversy with the judges score cards.
One judge gave it 116:112 in favor of Beterbiev when everyone saw how close this fight really is. Even in the corner of Artur they advised him to seek the KO after the 10th round because they didn’t believe it was going his way. Another judge scored it 115:113 and one of the three gave it a draw at 114:114.
At the end there is only one winner and his name is Artur Beterbiev.
