Douglas Lima will get his chance to regain the Bellator welterweight title.
On Saturday night at Bellator 221, Lima faced off with internet sensation and undefeated striker Michael “Venom” Page in the first semifinals of the Bellator Welterweight Grand Prix. In the first round, Lima was having trouble finding the range on the feet with Page, but secured a takedown, though he was unable to do much damage with it. Then in the second round, things got interesting.
Early in the second round, Page stumbled Lima with a right hand shot behind the ear. Page could tell he had hurt Lima and began stalking forward but as he did so, Lima landed a vicious low kick that took MVP off his feet, literally knocking Page’s entire body horizontal to the floor. In his haste to regain his feet, Page left his chin exposed and Lima took that opportunity to hand MVP his first professional loss. Lima landed a savage uppercut that turned the lights out on Page before his body even hit the floor.
Lima will now go on to the finals of the Welterweight Grand Prix where he will face the winner of Rory MacDonald vs. Neiman Gracie which is set to take place at Bellator 222 on June 14th. Check out the video below of the knockout that sent Lima there.
