This past Saturday night at UFC 238, Henry Cejudo (15-2) became the 4th fighter in the history of UFC that is simultaneously holding two belts.
The flyweight champion defeated Marlon Moraes (22-6-1) in the main event of the night and captured the vacant Bantamweight title. “The Messenger” TKO’d “Magic” at the end of the third round.
The 2008 Olympic gold medalist went into the fight as an underdog but the American kept his composure and foresaw his chances in the second and the third round.
Moraes was the aggressor right from the get-go. The Brazilian was landing some nasty low kicks throughout the whole opening round and Cejudo wasn’t able to get in touching distance.
Slowly, but surely, the champ began getting closer to Moraes and most of the time the exchanges were in his favor. The turning point was when Cejudo landed six consecutive knees to the body and head of Marlon Moraes who got pretty shooked.
Then in the third part, the 32-years-old Cejudo upped the pressure and took the fight to the ground thanks to his high wrestling skills. Moraes was still fit enough to rumble it out but eventually, he got tired and Cejudo went on top of him and after a few hard punches in the face of Moraes, the ref waved off the bout.
"Get him a second belt!"
