A huge main event is nearly finalized for UFC on ESPN 5.
The show is almost guaranteed to be headlined by a welterweight bout between former interim champ Colby Covington (14-1) and former champion Robbie Lawler (28-13).
The show is scheduled for August 3 in Newark, New Jersey.
The news were broken by UFC President Dana White who yesterday revealed that the promotion is close to finalizing the contest. Reportedly, both fighters have agreed to the fight although it was previously stated that the 31-years-old Covington will be facing UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman (15-1).
“Chaos” last fought at UFC 225 last year when he defeated Rafael dos Anjos for the interim championship. “Ruthless”, 37, was last seen inside the Octagon at UFC 235 when he lost to Ben Askren.
