UFC women bantamweight and featherweight champion Amanda Nunes (18-4) is now on a 9-fight winning streak following a first round KO win over the former bantamweight queen Holly Holm (12-5).
The co-main event of the night was for the bantamweight belt.
Both fighters started off slowly, looking for openings. Surprisingly, “The Preacher’s Daughter” didn’t attempt a single high kick. Her movement was also not the best, as she was standing too much in front of Nunes.
The Brazilian champ did a successful takedown, but the 37-years-old contender managed to get up quickly. Unfortunately for her, that was the only proper move she did in the fight. With less than a minute on the clock, the American went for a right low kick, but she found herself too close to “Lioness”, as the champ countered with a beautiful right high kick that landed right on the head of Holm. The 31-years-old Nunes finished the job with by landing some brutal punches to Holly’s face before referee Marc Goddard stepped in and waved off the bout.

That was Nunes’s fourth successful defense of her bantamweight strap, as she added another big name to her list of victims – Shayna Baszler, Valentina Shevchenko (x2), Miesha Tate, Ronda Rousey, Cris Cyborg, and Raquel Pennington.
