GLORY heavyweight kickboxing champion Rico Verhoeven (56-10) will be facing an old foe in his quest for kickboxing immortality.
The champ is set to defend his title against Jamal Ben Saddik (35-7) in his next outing in 2020. The 29-year-old Saddik is the #1 contender in GLORY’s heavyweight rankings, as he hasn’t lost a fight since May 2018.
The fight between those two will be a rematch of their initial bout in December 2017 at GLORY 49 when Rico defended his belt via 5th round TKO.
A lot of people were expecting a third and decisive fight versus Badr Hari to be announced, but that will have to wait. Hari will need some time to recover from the injury and obviously GLORY and Verhoeven want the title to be put on the line.
The first GLORY event in 2020 will be taking part at the end of February, but that won’t be the show where Rico and Jamal collide again.
