Russia’s Abdulrashid Sadulaev (-97 kg) claimed his fourth World Championships title in just 5 years.
The freestyler finished first in -97 kg weight class at the 2019 World Championships that took place in Nur-Sultan, Kazakhstan from September 14 to 22.
“The Russian Tank” has once again smashed the competition, conceding a total of three points in his 4 matches. The 23-year-old defeated Nicolai Ceban from Moldova at the 1/8-finals by VSU1 (12 – 2). Then he dismantled Magomedgadji Nurov from Macedonia in the quarter-finals by VPO (6-0).
He went on dominating in the semis, defeating Alisher Yergali from Kazakhstan by VPO1 (8-1).
The whole world was anticipating the trilogy between Sadulaev and Kyle Snyder from the USA, but the American got totally outplayed in the semi-finals and lost to Sharif Sharifov from Azerbaidjan.
On the last day of the event, Sadulaev faced Sharifov, but the Russian was no match for his adversary (VPO, 4-0) and Abdulrashid added another gold medal to his staggering collection of hardware.
