Belal Muhammad (24:3) is the new UFC welterweight champion after dethroning Leon Edwards (22:4) in the UFC 304 main event in Manchester, England.
The 36 years old Palestinian relied on wrestling in his strategy as it was expected. He controlled four out of the five rounds with constant pressure despite the fact that he didn’t attempt any real submissions.
Rocky didn’t seem like himself at all. He was late in the exchanges and didn’t move much on the ground. It was like he waited the finals seconds of the rounds to start working but that was not enough to score the points in the judges’ books.
If it wasn’t the elbow that landed in Belal’s nose in the final 30 seconds of the fight, his plan would have been excecated perfectly. Never the less he was crowned champion.
This is also a sweet revenge for the notorious eye poke back in 2021 when we had a no contest between these two.
