Bellator’s heavyweight prospect Valentin Moldavsky raised some eyebrows when he decided to participate in the World Combat Sambo Championships that took place this past weekend in Novi sad, Serbia.
But the 28-year-old has proved all doubters wrong by proving his professional MMA duties can be mixed pretty well with his amateur Combat Sambo background.
The Russian captured his second World gold after his first one back in 2018. Moldavsky won the +100 kg division in the Combat Sambo C’s.
He makes his Bellator MMA debut back in 2017 and it’s undefeated since then – 5 wins and 0 losses. His last victory came against Roy Nelson in August 2020.
Valentin is a student of probably the biggest Sambo practitioner of all time and MMA Hall of Famer – Fedor Emelianenko, so the two world gold medals shouldn’t be surprising to anyone.
