Claressa Shields and Savannah Marshall undisputed fight will happen in September

WBA, WBC and IBF women’s middleweight champion Claressa Shields and WBO middleweight queen Savannah Marshal will finally meet in what could very well be one of the most hyped boxing fights of 2022.

Boxing promoter Ben Shalom has announced that both ladies have signed their contracts and the undisputed fight will be taking place in September. As of this moment, there is no information on venue nor on a exact date. The only thing that is sure is that the bout will take place in the UK.

The American and the Brit are by far two of the most exciting female fighters in today’s game. Such a fight has been in the making for some years now and fans should be really happy and ecstatic about this one.

Savannah, 31, has defeated Shield, 27, in the amateur rankings some years ago. Both ladies are 12-0 in the pro ranks.

“Early September – both fighters are ready, both fighters are signed,” Shalom told Sky Sports News.

“I can’t wait. It’s taken a while.

“Claressa has finally got her match. It’s the first time we’re seeing a genuine rivalry in women’s boxing, and that’s a sign of the times.”

“It’s an incredible time for the sport and an incredible time for any woman getting into the sport of boxing.”

“The fight’s got so big now that it needs an international venue. It will happen in the UK — all the venues want it.”
