Conor McGregor charged with six traffic violations

Conor McGregor appeared in a Dublin court Thursday and was charged with six traffic violations.

He was charged with two counts of dangerous driving, as well as four additional counts for driving without a license and insurance, and failing to produce proof of the same. According to a report from Dublin Live, McGregor attorney Michael Staines told the court his client’s driver’s license and proof of insurance have been shown to Ireland police officials.

The 33-year-old McGregor, a former two-division UFC champion, was arrested March 22 in Dublin and detained after he was pulled over in his $187,000 Bentley Continental GT.

A statement at the time from the Gardai, Ireland’s national police, did not name McGregor due to the country’s strict privacy laws, but confirmed an arrest was made of a man for dangerous driving.

According to Dublin Live, McGregor was released on bail Thursday and has his next court appearance set for June.

Video captured of McGregor leaving court included him telling reporters and photographers on site that his injured leg continues to improve and he will be “straight back into training.” He also said he doesn’t have an opponent in mind, but is aiming to return to action at welterweight.

McGregor, 33, has a lengthy list of 18 convictions to his name – many of which are driving-related, according previous reports. Other offenses include assault causing harm and public order issues.

Additionally, McGregor was accused of sexual assault after an alleged December 2018 incident. According to the Independent, the gardaí were ordered to turn in any footage or other data they may have of the incident. McGregor has denied any wrongdoing.

Other publicly known McGregor incidents include his conviction for an assault of an older man in a Dublin pub, an arrest in Miami after he took and allegedly damaged a man’s phone, and his arrest for throwing a dolly through a bus window carrying various fighters and cornermen before UFC 223.
