One of the finest Japanese judokas in recent history – Riki Nakaya, has announced this past week its retirement.
Nakaya, 31, is a two-time World champion and 2012 Olympic silver medalist. Nakaya competed in the -73 kg category and even though he will never get the recognition of his fellow countrymen such as Soichi Hashimoto and Shohei Ono, Nakaya leaves the game as a legend.
He captured gold at the 2011 and 2015 World Championships. He’s also a silver medalist from the 2015 competition in Astana.
