Former WBO heavyweight world champion Joseph Parker is set to return to the ring this upcoming October, per Eddie Hearn.
Matchroom Boxing’s managing director said the Kiwi boxer will be fighting against tough opposition, but the date and the adversary are yet to be confirmed.
The Brit promoter and his team have been planing for some time now, as their prime goal is for Parker to fight in New Zealand.
Parker hasn’t fought in New Zealand since December 2018, when he beat American Alexander Flores in Christchurch. Since then, he’s only fought twice, with wins over Aussie-Samoan Alex Leipai and most recently American Shawndell Winters in March.
“Parker is due to fight in New Zealand, which is a project we’re working on,” Hearn has told IFL TV.
“It will be our first show in New Zealand and we’re planning a great fight for him.
“Looks like it’ll be in October. It’ll be a major coup to get this over the line.”
