Unified welterweight champion Errol Spence Jr. hopes he’ll be able to return to action in the first quarter of 2022.
“The Truth” had to fight living legend Manny Pacquiao earlier this year, but the American had to withdrew from the bout because of a urgent surgery on his eye.
The WBC and IBF champ was in presence at the fight between WBO king Terence Crawford and former champ Shawn Porter this past Saturday night. Now when Crawford defeated Porter, there is really only one fight to be made in this division – unification between Spence and Crawford.
But knowing how boxing works and all the people that are involved, there’s a big chance Spence decides to take on someone else before standing in front of “Bud”.
“I don’t know if the WBC are gonna make Terence my mandatory challenger”, Errol said.
“I’ll fight whoever they put in front of me. Everybody has got to wait. I’m coming back with a big one. When I’ll be back, it’s going to be a big one,” said Spence.
“I’ll be at 147 still,” said Spence. “Hopefully, I’ll be fighting again in February or March. We’ll see,” said Errol when asked if he’ll be facing WBA welterweight champion Yordenis Ugas in a unification fight next.
“Any opportunity. It’ll be my second time coming back after a long layoff. The eye is good. I haven’t started sparring yet, but I can spar.
