Europe’s karate future stars meet in Tampere

Over 1000 young Karate athletes from 45 countries are gathering at the Tampere Ice Stadium from August 20 to 22, as the 2021 EKF Cadet, Junior & U21 Championships take place this weekend in Tampere (Finland).

After the historic presentation of the sport at the Olympic Games Tokyo 202O, Karate returns to its official competition calendar. As a showcase of the strength of the Sport among young ages, the first international event after the Olympics is the European underage Championships.

The powerhouse nations of the sport aim at demonstrating the strength of their grassroots programmes. The last edition was held in 2020 in Budapest (Hungary) with young Karatekas from Turkey and France topping the medal table. Turkish representatives claimed 15 medals including 6 golds and French athletes took home 10 medals including 4 golds.

The competition is scheduled from Friday to Sunday. All the action from the tatamis will be available LIVE on the WKF YouTube channel.
