WBA Regular lightweight champion Gervonta Davis won’t be fighting Rolando Romero on December 5th in Los Angelis.
Romero has been pulled from the fight this Monday due to him being accused of sexual assault by a woman last Thursday. She did not say when the alleged incident occurred, but tweeted Friday that she filed a police report.
Romero has been replaced by 23-year-old Mexican Isaac Cruz (22-1-1). The last time Cruz was inside the ring was this summer when he defeated former world champion Francisco Vargas via UD.
“Although the allegations against me are totally false and I will prove that through the legal system, I agree that it is in the best interest of everyone involved that I not participate in the upcoming pay-per-view event,” Romero said in a statement posted to his Instagram page. “After clearing my name I will return to the ring as soon as possible.”
