The International Boxing Federation has ordered a purse bid for the heavyweight title eliminator between Croatia’s Filip Hrgovic and China’s Zhilei Zhang.
The two camps went into negotiations last week, but were unable to reach a deal and now the rights to organize the fight will go to the promoter who makes the best financial offer.
The purse bid is scheduled to take place February 24 at IBF headquarters in Springfield, New Jersey. It will be open to all IBF-registered promoters, who are required to submit a $5,000 nonrefundable participation fee along with a “check, money order or bank wire representing 10% of the total amount of the bid.
Zhang was one of the two fighters who accepted to fight Hrgovic. Prior to him, Luis Ortiz, Joseph Parker, Tony Yoka and four others ranked heavyweight declined the offer due to injury, scheduling conflicts or other reasons.
