Ronaldo “Jacare” Souza (26-7) will be moving up to the light heavyweight division this upcoming fall.
The 39-year-old Brazilian will face Poland’s Jan Blachowicz (24-8) in the main event of UFC Fight Night 164 in Souza’s homeland on November 16 in Sao Paolo. The news was broken by ESPN’s Brett Okamoto, who talked to UFC President Dana White.

“Jacare” was mixing wins and loses for the last three years in UFC middleweight division and him moving up seems like the right decision. His last bout was a defeat by Jack Hermansson.
Blachowicz, on the other hand, is coming off of a win against another light heavyweight debutant – Luke Rockhold at UFC 239.
The 36-year-old European was gunning for a title shot with Jon Jones, but first, he’ll have to beat Souza in order to get the mandatory status.
