WBC heavyweight champion of the world Tyson Fury will take his talent to mixed martial arts once he’s done with boxing, according to his father John Fury. “The Gypsy KIng” is in training camp for his trilogy fight with Deontay Wilder this October 9th in Las Vegas, US. The 33-year-old Brit was in action back in February 2020 when he TKO’d Wilder in their second meeting.
Fury himself has said numerous times in the past that he’s willing to try MMA and there were even talks about him facing the UFC heavyweight champ Francis Ngannou. Even though Fury is yet to face his fellow countryman Anthony Joshua, his father “Big ” John Fury believes his son will try his luck in some of the top MMA organizations.
“With the right training, he’d do very well. I’ve seen him excel in different sports like wrestling, so I’ve got kind of an idea what Tyson was from that. I know he can use more than his hands,” John Fury told JOE.
“He’s quick, light on his feet and I do believe, if a top MMA trainer took him on, he could do big things with him – ask Darren Till.”
The younger Fury trained with Till back in November 2019, with Till urging Fury to try MMA.
“The rougher it gets with Tyson, the better he likes it. When he does finally retire from boxing, he’ll probably go to MMA and come back to boxing, but he will engage on that you’ll see,” John Fury said.
