John Kavanagh will corner Conor’s return to UFC

UFC Conor McGregor’s coach John Kavanagh confirmed that he’ll continue his work with the former two-division champion. McGregor, 30, is back in the gym and is currently in negotiations with Dana White for his next fight.

“The Notorious” hasn’t fought since last October when he suffered a fourth-round loss via submission by the hands of lightweight champion Khabib Nurmagomedov. Weeks after the fight, the 42-years-old Kavanagh stated that he’s not sure if he’ll be in Conor’s corner next time he fights but obviously, his insecurity is in the past.

“I don’t think me cornering Conor is in doubt. I’m sure I’ll be there, we talk almost daily,” Kavanagh said at a media day ahead of Bellator London.

“He doesn’t have a fight lined up yet obviously but as soon as he does we’ll get the old gang back together and start plotting, training and I’m sure he’ll steal the show again. There’s no doubt he’ll do that.”

The Irish coach also said that he has no idea when McGregor’s next fight will be.

“I have to be honest and say that I don’t know,” Kavanagh said when asked if McGregor will fight this year. That’s a question for Conor, he’s got a lot of other stuff going on so I’ll just be honest and say I don’t know.”
