The Japanese Sumo Association has decided to open the doors for sumo fans for the upcoming July grand tournament in Tokyo despite a recent rise in the number of people infected with the coronavirus in the Japanese capital, per reports.
The decision was made at an extraordinary board meeting this last week that also voted to move the event from Nagoya to Tokyo in order to limit the need of people to travel across the country.
The event starts on July 19 in Tokyo and it will continue 15 days. It will be the first sumo tournament held in roughly four months as concerns about the coronavirus prompted the JSA to scrap the Summer Grand Tournament in May.
