Kid Galahad lands on the Canelo – Saunders undercard

A world championship fight has been added to the May 8 fight card that is being headlined by a super middleweight clash between Canelo Alvarez and Billy Joe Saunders.

The show which will take place in Texas, US, will be co-headlined by an IBF featherweight championship battle between the #1 ranked fighter Barry “Kid Galahad” Awad and the #3 ranked guy James “Jazza” Dickens.

This will be a rematch between those two, but this time the stakes are way higher. The initial meeting between “Kid Galahad” and “Jazza” took place in 2013 and ended with Awad TKOing Dickens in the 10th round.

Both Awad and Dickens failed to become world champions in their first chances. Awad lost to the former IBF featherweight king Josh Warrington back in 2019. The 31-year-old Brit managed to get to the #1 spot back in 2020 when he defeated Claudio Marrero.

Dickens’ first attempt to become world champion was also unsuccessful. The Scouser lost to Guillermo Rigondeaux via RTD in the second round back in 2016. Since then the Liverpoolian has lost only one more and won 8 straight.
