Kosovo’s national judo team has been self-isolated and put under quarantine as their preparations for the Tokyo 2020 continue. Olympic champion Majlinda Kelmendi, four other judokas and five staff members have closed themselves in at a training center in Peja, 85 kilometers west of Pristina.
Kelmendi is the first athlete from Kosovo to win an Olympic gold medal at the Rio 2016 Games.
Majlinda Kelmendi (-52kg), Distria Krasniqi (-48kg), Nora Gjakova (-57kg), Loriana Kuka (-78kg) and Akil Gjakova (-73kg) are all expected to participate in the Olympic Games this year.
Coach Driton Kuka is also with the group. The good news is, none of them has been infected by the coronavirus or has any symptoms of the COVID-19 illness.
