Bulgaria’s best heavyweight boxer – Kubrat Pulev (26-1-0) sat down with Helen Yee before his first fight of 2019 vs. the Romanian Bogdan Dinu (18-1-0) this Saturday night.
The two will meet in the main event of the evening this weekend at “The Hangar” in Costa Mesa, California. “The Cobra” discussed his bout with Romania’s Dinu and his main target – the IBF, WBA “Super” and WBO heavyweight champion – Anthony Joshua (22-0-0). We remind you that Pulev is the number 1 mandatory challenger for the IBF title and the potential fight could be happening as early as September 2019.
“Dinu is not an easy opponent. He has an 18-1 record. He is strong and dangerous, but I’m on another level.
The situation in the heavyweight division is pretty interesting right now. Tyson Fury is back. Maybe he’ll face Wilder one more time, but in my opinion, I don’t think that will happen. But the division is really attractive because there are a lot of great boxers”, the Bulgarian stated.
“I’ll be fighting Joshua for sure because I’m the mandatory challenger. Maybe this year, maybe next, but we will fight. With a good training camp, I’m sure I can beat him. I’m seeing his mistakes. Everybody makes mistakes. I’ll show the whole world that I’m the best. I’m better than him because I possess a lot of power, speed, I’m technically superior, and I’m the smarter fighter. He’s not “Iron Man”, this is boxing”, Pulev added.
By far his biggest statement came when he answered Yee’s question if he could knockout Joshua:
“Why not?”
