Former UFC middleweight champion and current analyst and commentator Michael Bisping has revealed that his fellow countryman Darren Till had a major injury prior to his fight with Derek Brunson this past weekend.
The Liverpudlian lost his second consecutive fight and a total of four in his previous five bouts. Till got submitted by Brunson in the third round of UFC Fight NIght 191 main event.
Till looked like a rookie on the ground and had no idea how to defend himself from the American who was doing everything he wanted.
Even though the 28-year-old Darren said after the loss that he won’t be offering any excuses, Bisping said that Till tore his ACL during his fight camp.
“I went backstage to see Darren after the fight, he was very disappointed of course, but he was a man and holding it together,” Bisping told BT Sport.
“He was frustrated and understandably so. I spent about 30 minutes with him and Colin Heron, just talking to him and giving him some advice.
“Perhaps I’m breaking guy code here but there was an injury coming into that fight, he tore his ACL about 10 weeks ago and he never mentioned it. It’s an excuse, it’s a reason, whatever you want to call it, he never mentioned it and I’m sure Derek had problems as well”, Bisping added.
