2019 Fight of the Year between world bantamweight champions Naoya Inoue from Japan and Nonito Donaire from the Philippines could get a rematch in the first quartet of 2022.
According to reports from US and Japan, both camps are negotiating a potential second fight that should land somewhere in April.
WBC champion Donaire (42-6, 28 KOs) and IBF/WBA champion Inoue (22-0, 19 KOs) met in November 2019 in the World Boxing Super Series final tournament, with ‘Monster’ Naoya winning a crazy competitive 12 round UD to capture the Ali Trophy as the tournament’s champion.
Since then, both guys have won all their fights. Inoue, 28, is on three fight winning streak with his last victory being against Thailand’s Aran Dipaen.
Donaire, 39, captured the WBC bantamweight title last year. First he beat France’s Nordine Oubaali and then he defended the belt against his fellow countryman Reymart Gaballo.
