An unification fight between two bantamweight champions is in the works. WBC champion Nonito Donaire could be facing the WBO king and his fellow countryman John Riel Casimero if both parties manage to work it out.
The two Filipinos had to meet earlier this year, but the fight fell off due to failed negotiations. The 38-year-old Donaire pulled off the fight because Casimero didn’t want to get involved with VADA.
Instead, Casimero fought and beat Guillermo Rigondeaux in August, while Donaire has been inactive since he captured the WBC belt in May, beating Nordine Oubaali.
According to several sources, now the two parties has started negotiations once more. As of this moment there is no information on when and where a potential fight could end up.
Whoever gets the W will probably secure a undisputed fight with the IBF and the WBA champ Japan’s Naoya Inoue.
