An excellent grudge match between former undisputed cruiserweight Oleksandr Usyk and the current British and WBO International champion Joe Joyce could be the next step for both guys.
The winner of that clash will be fighting for the real WBO belt after the super-fight between Anthony Joshua and Tyson Fury.
Usyk is the mandatory challenger for Joshua’s WBO title and is the only real hurdle that can stop the mega All-British fight. Apparently, the Ukrainian fighter has agreed to step aside and to wait a little bit more in order for the biggest fight to take place.
Joyce is the number 2 ranked fighter and according to Frank Warren the possibility of a fight between those two is big and if that happens, the World Boxing Organisation will order it as an eliminator.
“We’re working on at the moment Usyk vs. Joe Joyce. I think the WBO will order that for an interim title fight,” Warren said to iFL TV.
“So we’re working hard to make that happen. It’s one of the fights that we’re working with Joe, so that’s there to be done.”
