UFC welterweight champion Kamaru Usman (15-1) will probably defend his title against Colby Covington (15-1) this fall at UFC 244.
The Brazilian media outlet Combate is reporting that the company and the two fighters are close to finalizing the bout for November 2 at Madison Square Garden in New York. UFC has yet to comment on the situation, as UFC 244 is still without a main event.
There are two huge bouts announced for MSG that night – Bulgaria’s best MMA fighter Blagoy Ivanov (18-2) will be facing Derrick Lewis (21-7) while Johny Walker will be squaring up against Corey Anderson.
Usman, 32, was last seen inside the Octagon at UFC 235 when he claimed the welterweight belt. Covington, 31, is also coming off of a win. He defeated Robbie Lawler earlier this month, securing his title shot.
