According to a report from Brazilian media outlet AgFight, Yoel Romero (13-3) is out of the UFC Fort Lauderdale main event due to an illness.
The report states that the “Soldier of God” contracted pneumonia in the weeks leading up to the fight, causing him to withdraw from his headlining bout against Ronaldo Souza (26-6).

The fight was supposed to be a rematch of the Romero’s SD win back in 2015. It’s still not clear who will be replacing the 41-year-old Cuban. Yoel’s last fight was last year at UFC 225 against Robert Whittaker when the Australian won via SD.
Souza, meanwhile, last fought at UFC 230 claiming the W over Chris Weidman via KO in the 3rd round.
