The featherweight title fight between champ Alexander Volkanovski and Brian Ortega was an easy choice for “Fight of the Night” when performance bonuses were handed out at UFC 266.
Volkanovski, who took home a unanimous decision to notch his second title defense, joined Ortega in taking home an additional $50,000 check for his time in the cage on Saturday at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
UFC 266 was not an occasion for additional bonuses, as with previous events, but another two “Performance of the Night” bonuses were handed out to fighters on the preliminary card. Prelim headliner Merab Dvalishvili pulled off an amazing come-from-behind win over one-time title challenger Marlon Moraes and got one POTN, while the other went to heavyweight Chris Daukaus, who stopped Shamil Abdurakhimov to pick up his fourth straight stoppage win.
