The United World Wrestling bureau today confirmed the addition of the Ziolkowski, Pytlasinski, and Poland Open to the 2021 Ranking Series and clarified the points in determining seeds for the 2021 Olympic Games in Tokyo.
Earlier this year, the bureau approved plans for China Turkmenistan, and North Korea to receive Ranking Series points for their finishes at the 2021 continental championships. The nations were unable to attend the 2020 championships due to concerns surrounding the transmission of COVID-19. Similarly, the Oceania Continental Championships in 2021 will count for Ranking Series points as they did not compete in 2020.
The Ranking Series tournaments which will provide points for seeding are:
2019 World Championships
2020 Continental Championships
2020 Matteo Pellicone
2021 Asian Championships (3 nations)
2021 Oceania Championships
2021 Ziolkowski, Pytlasinski and Poland Open
The executive committee will next meet on October 5 to discuss plans for the 2020 Junior and Senior World Championships scheduled for mid-December in Belgrade, Serbia. A questionnaire will be sent a mid-next week to all national federations gauging their interest in the tournament as well as any concerns they might have.
