Former UFC heavyweight champion Cain Velasquez (14-2) and his opponent at UFC on ESPN 1 – Francis Ngannous (12-3) both looked in tremendous shape at the open workouts before their clash this Saturday night.
Velasquez, 36, is returning to the cage after two-and-a-half years span of no fighting. The last time he fought was at UFC 200 when he defeated Travis Browne via TKO.
Ngannou on the other hand, had 7 fights (6 W,1 L) since Velasquez stepped in the Octagon against Browne. The last ‘The Predator’ fought was on the 24th of November, 2018. Then he TKO’d Curtis Blaydes in the 1st round.
Both fighters showed great rhythm and pace, their kicks looked on point (especially Velasquez’s ones) and the power was there, too. There is no doubt that this is going to be one of the better fights in the heavyweight division in 2019.
The bout between the tow is the main event of the evening.
